We are a textile arts group based on the Gold Coast, Australia. We love stitching, felting, weaving, painting, dyeing, printing, layering, embellishing and manipulating fabrics and fibres to make wonderful textile creations.
These are different angle photos of the hat I made for the Little Hats for Happiness project which raises funds and awareness for Australian mental health.
I went a bit wild and somehow the comment was published three times, so that is why I have I comment and 2 deletes. (All this new fangled blogging!!!) x
It has taken me a while to catch up on these comments - I understand where you're coming from Patti :-) great to see the feedback. Thanks Cara & Patti.
The new year kicked off in fine form with Pat giving an inspiring presentation on eco-dyeing. Following up with a fun activity doing rust and turmeric dyeing on fabric and paper. These treasures have made a number of appearances throughout the year as thy have been incorporated into journals, collage and various stitching projects. This was followed up by Show 'n' tell where our creatives brought out a truly impressive array of pieces showcasing a diverse range of technique and creativity. There was quilting, doll making, collage, storytelling, calligraphy and a beautiful collection of textile art journals.
Hi ladies I now have a unique bright apron, featuring the rubbings piece that I created at the Sue Dennis workshop. The plain white fabric went from this ... Rubbings on white cotton fabric To this - painted and further marked .... Painted and added marks To this! Happy apron I did try some free motion stitching on one section but did not continue as I thought it detracted from the rubbings design. I'm really happy with the end result - a lovely and bright apron with deep pockets! What have you done with your workshop pieces? Happy making!
Our March meeting was very special as we took part in the The Heartfelt Community Project - a worldwide initiative founded by Wendy Bailye to bring comfort to those in hospice and palliative care or to any one else in need of comfort through the making and giving of felted comfort hearts.
Absolutely fabulous Helen!
